We've long wanted to make an affordable version of our Classic Wool Knickers, and so when the sewing factory boss offered us this Italian rayon gabardine at a very good price, we took it!
While not wool it is still dressy, looking in fact more like silk than sheep hair, with a fine drape and a beautiful roan color which we've set off with a satin gusset in subdued viridian.

The LSD edition knickers are made in Los Angeles in a fair-wage factory from Italian rayon gabardine, and are best suited for moderate temperatures.
Rayon, though not a naturally-occurring fabric, is made from wood, so, although solvents are used in teh process, it has less impact on he environment than any other commonly-employed synthetic fabric.
Care & Cleaning
We recommend dry-cleaning this fabric, or hand-washing in cold water, as with our woolens.
Fit & Alteration
Like any other fine garment, these can be altered by any tailor and most dry cleaners. The back of the waistband has elastic, to allow for a comfortable riding position, and there is enough extra material in the main seam to let them out a half-size, or to take them in a full size. Sizes 36 and up have slightly larger legs and cuffs. These are not meant to be tights, so order the next size up if you're between sizes or built a bit fuller than average. Sizing is by US conventions. The cuffs have three buttons in case you have skinny calves. Or you can ride with them wide-open if it's really hot.
If you are over 6' 2"/188cm tall, these may be too short. Generally speaking, they work for those of you whose inseams are 34"/86.5cm or less. We plan to offer a tall folks' version eventually.
You can wear padded briefs, regular bike shorts, tights, or longjohns under them without upsetting the elegant fit.
