This versatile jersey is made in Los Angeles in a fair-wage factory from either 100% merino wool knit or hemp blended with organic cotton (53% hemp, 43% organic cotton, 4% Spandex).
Merino wool reigns supreme among fabrics for comfort, breathability, and resistance to odors, and is suitable for an extremely wide range of temperatures, while hemp is a durable, natural fabric that requires little in the way of water or fertilizers to grow. Since the hemp requires a bit of blending to refine its hand, we use organic cotton, in order to keep environmental impacts low and yet still produce a vegan-friendly, lower-priced alternative to the merino wool. (However, the hemp is not as well suited for extremes of temperature as the wool.) The photo showing the rear pocket (above) is of the hemp blend jersey.
Care & Cleaning
Wool should be hand-washed, preferably in Woolwash, Woolite, or other wool-specific cleaners; it can also be dry-cleaned. Hemp/cotton blends can be machine-washed, but hand washing or dry cleaning is always gentler and will result in a longer-lasting garment. Use cold water only, and dry flat.
Size and Fit
These jerseys look equally good on men and women. Sizes run slightly small by US men's sizing conventions, so if you are at the upper end of your size range, be sure to buy the next one up. The "Medium" is based on a 39" to 40" chest measure, and will fit correctly when worn next to the skin or over a light underlayer such as a cotton or wool T-shirt.
When using the hood, make sure the upper hem comes down to just above your eyebrows for proper fit, as in the last image above.
Note: the male model is 6' 1" (185.4cm) tall and around 165 pounds, and is wearing a medium.
The back is cut significantly longer than the front, for coverage when leaning to the handlebars, but we tailored the shape of the hem very carefully so that the jersey is still elegant when you're off the bike (as we hope the photos show!).
