Kookaburra Woolwash
Yes, our label on the Classic Wool Knickers says "Dry Clean Only"--but that's because not everyone has access to Kookaburra's Woolwash. But Woolwash (now renamed just plain "Wash") is what we ourselves use to clean all our wool products, including the Gabardine Knickers. And just about anything else that's worthy of special treatment, since Woolwash is good for cotton, hemp, other natural fibers, and synthetics.

Details
Woolwash includes lanolin, a wool extract, which reconditions wool fabrics and gives a smoother hand to all others. (Lanolin is also used in medicine and cosmetics as a skin conditioner.) In addition to lanolin, Woolwash contains Tea Tree oil, which is a natural fungicide and antibacterial agent. The rest of the ingredients are cleaning agents derived from vegetable oils, as well as cocoanut and jojoba oils for further conditioning.
Woolwash does not damage the environment; all of its ingredients are biodegradable. It contains no enzymes, phosphates, peroxide, or alkali, and generally will not cause fabric colors to run. The manufacturer recommends it for handwashing the following materials:
- All woolen items; woven, knitted, hand knits, homespuns, hand-woven.
- Mohair, angora, & alpaca
- Silk & cashmere.
- Sweaters with beads, sequins, leather or fur trim.
- Rayons
- Linens
- Cottons
- Silks.
- Synthetics & blends
- Fine lingerie
- Sheepskin slippers
- Mittens
- Vests
- Washable sheepskin rugs
It works perfectly on our Wool Gabardine and Hemp Blend knickers, and just about anything else you're likely to wear on or off the bike.
