Orange 20's blog this week sees an article exploring the connection between Bikes and cabbage, as the local-foods movement goes hyperlocal, and adds bikes into the equation for more efficiency.

And at Flying Pigeon LA, Hats, Rings, and You celebrates Josef Bray-Ali's almost inevitable entry into the upcoming race to replace reactionary Gil Cedillo in LA's Council District 1.

On Orange 20's blog this week, I once more harp on the connection between literacy and effective political advocacy, especially in this data-rich political ambience. Read The Way Forward to see how you can make the "knowledge is power" equation work for you and your community.

And on Flying Pigeon's blog, I marvel at the civility of the town hall I just attended in my neighborhood to discuss the proposed road diet for Sixth street—expecting the worst, and finding instead a supportive community. And catching up with Tim Frémaux and David Somers, friends from the depths of LA's bureaucracy, who carried off the meeting quite well. Good thing, since, if you ride Sixth, Your Fate Is in their Hands.

Well…I certainly hope that, if you were in LA, you didn't let last Saturday's Perfect Weather keep you from riding to any of the numerous Bike Month events scheduled for that day. (And if that confuses you, just click the link….)

And after that, you can Behold How Good and Pleasant it might feel to vote a couple of bike-hating council toadies out of office next spring…between LA's local races and the maelstrom of invective sure to be generated by the presidential contest, it's going to a a vivid voting season, isn't it?

This week's Orange 20 post recounts an encounter I had with an SUV-driving dimwit that made me think of cars as a sort of Projection Room—read it and you[ll see what I mean.

Meanwhile, on Flying Pigeon LA's blog, I note with some alarm that the Bicycle Millennium Is Interrupted for Bike Month. Read that one, and you'll see what i mean….
